Lecture 5 (incomplete) Flashcards
(24 cards)
What are spectral colors?
Comprised of a single wavelength.
What is additive mixing?
Combinations which increase the amount of light reflected, like computer monitors.
Color circle developed by, and describes?
Isaac Newton, and hue and saturation.
CIE Color Space?
Describes colors based on three primaries.
Trichromatic theory?
Blue, green, red. (Short, med., long).
How many men are colorblind?
1 in 12.
Protanopia?
Can’t see red.
Deutanopia?
Can’t see green.
Opponent process theory developed by?
Hering.
Opponent process theory?
Blue-yellow and red-green.
Snellin eye chart?
Standard.
Two parts of contrast sensitivity?
Contrast and spatial frequency.
Grouping principles?
Proximity, similarity, continuity, closure, common fate.
Grouping principles developed by?
Gestalt psychologists.
Accomodation?
Adjustments of the lens.
Vergence?
Inward turn of eyes to fix on an object.
Monocular depth cues?
Interposition, size, perspective, motion parallax.
Binocular depth cues?
Binocular disparity.
Object moving vs. induced motion?
Object moving, waterfall makes stuff “go up”.
Apparent motion?
TV.
Integral vs separable dimensions?
Integral: can’t describe one feature without describing another (bending), separable (color and shape).
Configural dimension?
Dimensions interact to create new figures.
Expectancies?
Perception induced by context.
White noise, wideband noise, and narrowband noise?
Equal avg. intensity frequencies, wide frequencies, restricted frequencies.
