Q

how do viruses infect

A

they are host specific, have specific receptors where they bind (like a key in a lock), they then use the machinerie of the host cell (to get into a cell, must have receptor for that specific cell)

Q

how do viruses replicate

A

take command of hosts metabolic pathway and direct it to make a new copy of the virus, once the viral nucleic acid and protein coat are made, virus assembled and released

Q

how do vaccines work

A

inject either a part of the pathogyne or dead pathogyne so body an build antibodies, and white bloos cells can act of the pathogyne right away if there is futur infection
