Jaundice appearance and why
Jaundice is yellowing of the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood (hyperbilirubinemia).
Causes of Jaundice
What is bilirubin
Bilirubin is a yellow compound produced when red blood cells break down.
It’s processed by the liver and excreted in bile.

Examples of pre-hepatic diseases causing jaundice
A bit about hepatitis, a hepatic disease, causing jaundice
Examples of post-hepatic diseases which cause jaundice and worse
When the bile duct is blocked, the bilirubin backs up back into the liver and then leakjs into blood stream
