Left Turning Tendencies Flashcards
(4 cards)
Torque
The clockwise rotation of the aircraft’s propeller causes an opposite reaction in an anti-clockwise direction, which causes the aircraft to roll to the left during flight. Mainly felt in high power inputs from low airspeed high angles of attack moments.
Use right aileron input as required
Spiral Slip Stream
slipstream created behind the propeller of an aircraft is displaced into a corkscrew pattern around the fuselage creating a yawing moment
Apply right rudder input as required
Gyroscopic precession
A force applied to the propeller to only be felt 90 degrees from the location of where the force is being applied, in the direction of rotation.
Apply rudder input as required
P-Factor
descending blade experiencing a higher Angle of Attack (AoA) than the upgoing blade during a climb; producing more thrust on the right side of the propeller sending the airplane left
Apply right rudder input as required
