Schwache Verben (weak or regular verbs)
Schwache Verben strictly follow the conjugation pattern.
Starke Verben (strong or irregular verbs)
Starke Verben don’t always follow the conjugation pattern; they change their form. Usually the change is made to the stem vowel of the verb. Some starke Verben don’t make any changes in the Präsens; their changes occur in other tenses.
