Myositis Ossificans – where bone tissue forms inside of muscle or other soft tissue as a result of injury. – can increase bleeding by massaging which can cause calcification. COMPLETE CONTRAINDICATION.
What is Myositis Ossificans?
Bone tissue forms inside of muscle or other soft tissue as a result of injury.
This condition can occur following trauma to the muscle.
What effect can massaging have on Myositis Ossificans?
It can increase bleeding, which can cause calcification.
Increased bleeding may exacerbate the condition.
What is the treatment consideration for Myositis Ossificans?
It is a COMPLETE CONTRAINDICATION for massage therapy.
Massage should be avoided to prevent worsening the condition.
