(31 cards)
are art forms that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making and architecture.
visual arts
is the process of applying paint, color, pigment or the use of brushes and other implements like knife, sponge, cloth and airbrushes, It is an important form of visual arts.
Painting
MEDIUMS OF PAINTING
Encaustic
Fresco Secco
Fresco
Egg Tempera
Mosaic
Oil Paint
Water color
Acrylic
Drawing
Printmaking
painting technique in which pigments are mixed with hot liquid wax.
Encaustic
pigments are usually mixed with water, although other substances might also be used. The paint is then applied to a dry plaster wall which has been wetted down with water.
Fresco Secco
Entails painting on freshly spread, moist plaster; first, layers of plaster are applied to the surface.
Fresco
In this method, the pigment is mixed with egg yolk or both the yolk and white of an egg.
Egg Tempera
The design is created by small pieces of colored glass, stone, or ceramic called (Tesserae), embedded in wet mortar which has been spread over the surface to be decorated.
Mosaic
In its simplest form, ___________ is a mixture of three things: pigment, binder and thinner. Pigment is the colour element, while the binder (the oil) is the liquid vehicle or carrier which holds the ground-up pigment to be applied to the canvas or whatever support is to be painted.
Oil painting
is the process of painting with pigments that are mixed with water.
Watercolor painting
are artificial compounds developed in the 20th century. The binder used includes water, and the paints can be thinned with water, but once the paints dry, they have a glossy, permanent surface that resembles the surface created by oils.
Acrylic
Comes from French verb “coller” meaning “to paste” In this technique photographs, news clippings or other objects are pasted on the painting surface and may be combined with painted areas.
Collage
It is one of the oldest forms of human expression within the visual arts.
Drawing
A print is anything printed on a surface that is a direct result from a duplication process
Printmaking
is defined as a three-dimensional form made from a material such as clay, wax, plaster, stone, polyester, fiberglass, metal, or plastic.

it is an additional process. The media that artists use to mold sculptures include clay, wax, pulp, and plaster.
Modeling
is made of molten material (usually metal) and then poured into a mold. Let the mold cool to harden the metal. Itis an additive process.
Casting
The sculptor removes unnecessary material to create the shape. This is also called subtractive sculpture. Generally, materials such as wood blocks, stones, and other hard materials are used.
Carving
Sculptors gather and add different materials to create assembled art sculptures. It is an additional process.
Assembly
The art and technique of designing and building, as distinguished from the skills associated with construction.
