Q

Engine Failure - Flight

A

1) Airspeed -> best glide speed of 68
2) Find Place to Land
3) Fuel Shutoff Valve -> ON (IN)
4) Fuel Selector Valve -> Both
5) Fuel Pump Switch -> ON
6) Mixture -> RICH (if engine hasn’t restarted)
7) Mags -> Both (Or START if propellor is stopped)

(a) Engine Instruments -> Check
(b) Mags -> Check
(c) Fuel Pump Switch -> OFF

If power turns back on, land as soon as possible.

f) Fuel Shutoff Valve -> OFF (Out)
g) Mags -> OFF
h) Flaps -> As needed (FULL recommended)
i) STBY BATT -> OFF
j) Master -> OFF

Q

Engine Fire - Start

A

1) Mags -> Start & Continue Cranking

IF ENGINE STARTS:

a) Power -> 1800 form a few minutes (to ensure any 🔥 or excess ⛽️ in the induction system has been drawn into the engine)
b) Engine -> Shutdown & Inspect

IF ENGINE DOESN’T START:

a) Mags -> Start & Continue Cranking
b) Throttle -> FULL OPEN (help draw ⛽️ & 🔥 into cylinders)
c) Mixture -> Idle (stops fuel flow into system)
d) Fuel Shutoff Valve -> OFF (Out - fire cannot travel through fuel lines to the tanks)
e) Fuel Pump Switch -> OFF (prevent any other ⛽️ from getting to 🔥)
f) Mags -> OFF
g) STBY BATT -> OFF
h) Master -> OFF
i) Evacuate and extinguish 🔥
