Quelle est la signification de "Could" en anglais?
= 1) C'est le passé de "can". Exemple: Before the lessons, I **couldn’t have** a conversation in English, and now I can. (= Avant les cours, je ne pouvais pas avoir une conversation en anglais et maintenant je peux.). Noter qu'on peut aussi utiliser "able to" au passé. Exemple: Before the lessons, I **wasn't able to have** a conversation in English, and now I **am**. 2) C'est le "**conditionnel**" du verbe "**pouvoir**", i.e. "can". Par exemple: "Est-ce que vous pourriez me donner votre adresse?" = "**Could you give** me your address?"
