1) “How much” can be used to talk about the price of something. E.g.: How much is this cellphone?
2) “How much” can also be used for UNCOUNTABLE things. E.g.: How much snow do we normally get in December?
3) “How many” is used for COUNTABLE things. E.g.: How many hours a week do you work? How many kids do you have? How many players are on a hockey team?
