What is nominal data?

Answer 1

Categorizes data without any order (NAME ONLY)

Gender (Male/Female/Other)
Eye color (Brown, Blue, Green)

What is ordinal data?

Answer 2

Categorizes data with a clear order, but intervals are not equal. Rank order, but differences between ranks aren’t measurable.

Class rankings (1st, 2nd, 3rd…)

(theres no fixed diff between the points ppl get in 1/2/3.

What is interval data?

Answer 3

Ordered data with equal intervals, but no true zero. You can measure differences, but ratios are meaningless. Values positive and negative.

Temperature in °C or °F

Question 4

What is ratio data?

Answer 4

All the features of interval data plus a true zero (eg 0)
Reaction time (in seconds)
