What is nominal data?
Categories are only named
If somethings is in one category it can’t be in another
Examples of nominal data?
-Depression symptoms have deteriorated, improved or stayed the same
-grouping people on favorite football team (Liverpool, man united, sheffield wednesday
What is ordinal data?
Categories can be ordered and ranked
No equal intervals between each unit and is based on opinion (questionnaire scores/ratings)
Example of ordinal data?
Asking people to rank their favorite song or characters in a tv show
What is interval data?
Distance is meaningful
Measuring something on a scale, including equal, precisely defined size
Examples of interval data?
Temperature
PH
Shoe size
What is ratio data?
All properties of interval data, a true zero
Ratio example?
years if work experience
heart rate
weight
length
