-causes stunted growth in children and can make someone more susceptible to infection due to not getting balance of nutrients in their food
-can cause deficiency due to not getting enough vitamins and minerals (eg can cause scurvy causing problems with skin, gum and joints
Negative effects of unhealthy diet on a persons intellectual development
-malnutrition causes fatigue and a lack of energy leading to problems concentrating and focusing during work/ class
-less resilient and lack of growth mindset due to never learning team working or determination skills
Negative effects of bad diet on emotional development
-bad diet can cause obesity or make your skin break out, lowering your self-image due to feeling insecure in your appearance
-Being inactive amongst peers who regularly exercise can cause you to feel inadequate or envious leading to poor self esteem
Negative effects of bad diet on your social development?
-can cause a person to withdraw form socialising due to tiredness as malnourishment causes fatigue and a lack of energy
-social isolation due to a bad diet lowering self image causing a person to be insecure in their appearance
Positive effects of exercise on physical health
-helps your cardiovascular system as it strengthens the heart and blood vessels improving circulation
-Improves your muscles strength due to hypertrophy in which the body repairs damage fibres in muscles by fusing gaining mass and size
Why is exercise good for young children?
-Helps them develop their motor skills as they strengthen and coordinate their muscles through exercise
Why does exercise help those in later adulthood
-help to keep them mobile by strengthening their muscles and keeping joints flexible
Positive effects of exercise on intellectual health?
-serotonin released by the brain during exercise improves cognitive ability
-team activities teaches you communication and growth mindset skills which you can apply at work/ school

-when exercising the brain releases a hormone called serotonin and dopamine which makes a person feel happy or euphoric
-noticing improvements on weight loss or muscle gain can contribute to increased self-image and confidence in appearance
Positive effects of exercise on social development
-can expand a persons social circle due to meeting and creating friendships with new people via team sport or gym sessions
-exercise can cause a person to feel more confident in their self image making it more likely for them to go on dates and start romantic relationships

-Respiratory conditions such as lung cancer due to damage to lung cells
-wrinkles due to tobacco smoke damaging collagen and elastin
Effects of smoking on a person’s intellectual health
-can cause a person to miss school or have time off work due to being more susceptible to chest infections and colds due to damaged lungs
-can cause a person to be unfocused or distracted due to cravings for nicotine when unable to smoke

-can cause a person to become more irritable or aggressive due to experiencing withdrawal symptoms when without cigarettes
-can cause a person to have lower self esteem due to smoking causing wrinkles, bad breath and stained yellow teeth
Social effects of smoking
-A person may be avoided due to clothes and breathe smelling unpleasant and of smoke
-May miss out on certain moments due to frequent smoking breaks

-liver failure due to the process in which the body breaks down alcohol being toxic and damaging liver cells
-raises blood pressure due to alcohol narrowing blood vessels and raising heart rate

- heavy drinking can cause a decline in cognitive abilities due to damaging area of the brain responsible for memory and decision making
-alcohol can cause alcohol related dementia due to damage to brain cells

-can cause a person to feel embarrassed and shame due to having a problem and reflecting on behaviour while drunk
-can cause a person to have lower self esteem as they feel they are not exciting enough without alcohol

-May cause permanent damage to family bonds due to an individual becoming abusive when drunk
-May cause people to avoid and distance themselves from you due to being uncomfortable around a drunk

-Vomiting due to irritating the stomach lining and disrupting digestive process
-headaches due to body caused by dehydration and inflammation when drunk

-insomnia do to certain drugs being stimulants which keep you alert
-drugs you smoke can cause respiratory conditions due to damaging lung cells
-increased risk of HIV due to shared needles
-increased in blood pressure
-addiction as body becomes dependent on drug to function
Intellectual effects of drug abuse
-delayed reaction time as they slow the nervous system by slowing the messages between the brain and body
-difficulty concentrating If addicted as the brain becomes focused only on getting more of the drug
-memory loss as drugs effect neurotransmitters in the brain
Emotional effects of drug misuse
-low self esteem due to being ashamed of addiction
-depression due to others distancing themselves due to being uncomfortable around an addict
Social effects of drug misuse
-social circles may distance themselves from you due to being uncomfortable around an addict
-May cause a person to withdraw form social interaction due to being embarrassed and ashamed of their addiction
