Light Dependent/calvin cycle Flashcards
(11 cards)
where does light dependent cyle occur
thylakoid
reactants of light light-dependent cycle
sunlight water chloroplast
explain light dependent cycle
1.) Absorb light (chlorophyll) electrons become excited
2.)Water molecule splits O2 released
3.) E- getting pumped through ETC , pumps H+ into thylakoid creating proton gradient
4.) ATP synthesis H+ diffuse into stroma creating conversion ADP + P = ATP
5.) H+ joins coenzymes NADP to become NADPH
products light-dependent cycle
O2 H+ ATP NADPH
where does calvin cycle occur
stroma
calvin cycle reactant
ATP NADPH O2
calvin cycle steps
Carbon fixation, reduction, regeneration
explain calvin cycle
1.) Carbon fixation
enzyme RUBISCO attach to CO2 and RUBP(5c) creates 6c compound
breaks 2x3PGA (3 c each)
2.) Reduction
ATP +NADPH convert 3-PGA to G3P (3C)
3.) Regeneration
rest of G3P rearranged by ATP regenerates RUBP
calvin cycle products
NADP+ ADP G3P
Light dependent reaction
H20 = 1/2 O2 + 2H+
Calvin cycle reaction
CO2 = C6H1206 (X2)
