Q

Can you describe the transcription activation by transduction as a response to VIRAL infection?

A
  • Interferon Y binds to interferon Y receptor on cell surface membrane
  • This causes the receptor to couple up with JAK KINASE
  • JAK kinase phosphorylates STATIN 1 monomer converting it into STATIN 1 dimer
  • Statin 1 phophorylated dimer

Q

Can you describe Transduction of CREB in terms of cAMP?

A
  • Hormone binds to receptor on cell surface membrane
  • This causes hormone receptor to couple with Adenylate cyclase
  • Adenylate cyclase CONVERTS ATP into cAMP
  • cAMP activates protein kinase
  • Protein kinase migrates to nucleus and PHOPHORYLATES CREB transcription factor
  • This allows CREB to interact with its factor CRB and initiate transcription

Q

Can you describe transduction of HYDROPHOBIC SMALL HORMONES STEROID?

A
  • Steroid directly diffuses through membrane and bind to receptor
  • Steroid binds to glyCORTICOID receptor inside cell causing dimerization of these receptor
  • glyCORTICOID DIMER moves into nucles
  • transcription is intitiated
