What can an extreme deficiency in micronutrients do?
It can cause poor physical and mental development in children. Vulnuberiility to diseases, mental retardation, blindness and general losses in productivity and potential.
List 5 effects of poor nutritional health
- Increased risk of heart disease
- Risk of cancer
- Risk of diabetes
- Risk of high blood pressure
- Lack of energy

What are vitamins?
Organic compounds that do not provide energy. It regulates body growth and metabolism
Explain fat-soluble vitamins (list)
Fat-soluble vitamins dissolve in lipids and can be stored, and do not need to be taken daily. Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble vitamins.
Explain water-soluble vitamins (list)
Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water and are absorbed in the bloodstream immediately, and are needed daily. Vitamins B and C are water-soluble vitamins.m
Explain minerals
Minerals are inorganic compounds not synthesised by the body and are needed in small quantities.
