What is Progressive mobilisation?

A

Following RICER, Movement is restored to injury as soon

Gradually increasing the injured part’s range of motion - Until injury is fully functional

Reduce build up of scar tissue, allow greater mobility

Athlete must avoid any aggravation during rehab = will extend healing period

A

(Stretching, conditioning, total body fitness)

A

Assists muscle to gain elasticity

Heal without scarring

Scarring shortens muscle making it prone to further injury

Conditioning/Strengthening (graduated exercise)

A

Build up of fitness as a result of gradual increases in physical stress

Overload principle

Work injured to be able to perform skills without pain, with full movement

(STRENGTH, HYPERTROPHY, MUSCULAR ENDURANCE)
