What are the 4 requirements under the law for Safe Surrendered Baby
-Cannot ask for the parent’s name
-Baby must be 3 days old or younger
-Baby cannot show any signs of abuse or neglect
-Law allows for a 14 day cooling off period
If a parent surrenders a baby what is the first contact that should be made?
Notify the Comms center for a walk in medical aid
Describe the newborn bracelet
The incident number will be written on both bracelets. 1 bracelet will be attached to the baby and 1 bracelet will be given to the parent to potentially reclaim the newborn after the 14 day cooling off period
What hospital should a surrendered newborn be transported to
UCDMC and notify SPD to have an officer meet there
