nominal scales
A
categorical data is normally measured on a normal scale because we merely assign category labels, e.g. gender and political-party affliation

orders people, data or events along a continuum, e.g. a hierarchy

a measurement scale in which we can legitimately speak of differences between scale points that are of an equal size

a measurement scale that has a true zero point which is the point corresponding to the absence of the thing being measured, e.g. length, time, volume
