Sensory register
The sensory register temporarily stores info from our senses
Unless we pay attention to it it will disappear (spontaneous decay)
Short- term memory
Has a limited capacity and a limited duration
Coding is usually acoustic (sound)
Long-term memory
Unlimited capacity, permanent
Coding is usually semantic (the meaning of the info)
Types: episodic, semantic, procedural
Episodic memory
Stores info about events that is experienced, concert.
Semantic memory
Stores facts and knowledge that are learnt, capital cities
Procedural memory
Stores knowledge of how to do things, walking
