Principles of effective training
Frequency- how often Intensity- how hard you work Duration- how long you work for Overload- If you stop improving to make it harder you use all the of the principles Variety- so you don’t get bored Specific-what you need to improve
What does objective (quantitative) mean?
Data based on numerical value
E.g- beep test give you a numerical score
As long as the test guidelines are correctly followed then the result is based on facts and figures
What does subjective (qualitative) mean?
Data based on personal thoughts and opinions
E.g Toughness questionnaire
Advantages of subjective data
- Instant results- Gives you a strength and limitation
- easy to set up and complete
- Can be done anywhere
- Easy to understand
- Gives you a permanent record
Disadvantages of subjective data
Limitations
- Easy to lie
- May not take it seriously
- Distracted by others
- Answers may differ depending on feelings
- No national norms
Problems when recording (test)
- Dishonesty
- Lack of seriousness when completing
- Answers without understanding question
- Based on thoughts and feelings
Problems when monitoring (retest)
You may not feel the same when retesting as negative feelings get in the way
