Methods In Behavior Genetics Flashcards
(9 cards)
Alleles
A= normal
a= mutant
Genotypes
AA= homozygous wild (normal)
aa= homozygous mutant (affected)
Aa= heterozygous (carrier)
Genotype frequency
Known with allele frequency:
A= 50% a=50%
AA= 0.5•0.5=0.25
Aa= 2•0.5•0.5=0.5
aa= 0.5•0.5=0.25
If dominant then likelyhood is 75% if recessive then 25%
Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (HWE)
P^2+2pq+q^2=1
Family studies
Measure resemblance between parents and child
Adoption studies
Data is rare, biological parents and adoptive parents tested
Adoption studies II
Siblings both biological and environmental were compared
Twin studies logic
MZ correlation = DZ correlation > genes not important
MZ c.> DZ c. = genes important
Genetic and environmental components
P= A (gene effects)+ D (dominance effect)+ C (shared environment)+ U (unique environment)
