- composers mix subdivisions for their compositions and we must be able to read them

mixing subdivision in simple

- this grouping (or triplet quarter notes) tell us that there is three quarter notes in the space of two beats
- this concept works for most subdivision meaning you can have triplet eigth notes, triplet half notes, etc.

- the same concept works but instead of grouping in three, you bracket and make the subdivision in two
