what was the aim of stantely milgram study
Stanley Milgram wanted to understand why the Germans that committed the holocaust repeatedly said they were just following orders, wanted to understand the obedience of the germans.

volunteer sample of white 40men between 20-50 years of age
they varied from unskilled workers to professionals and were promised 4$
they were introduced to a man wearing a grey technicians lab coat. Participants were told that they could drop out at any moment
results- 65% administered the full 450V shock and 100% complied to the 300V shock before dropping out 12.5% of the sample dropped out , they trembled , sweated, bite their lips , dig fingernails into their flesh 35% showed nervous laughter, 3 participants had blown seizures

study was standardised meaning every participant had the exact same experience. The study is replicable.
However it went against ethical issues of deception and causing of the psychological harm to the participants that thought the learner was dead

many lied on the phone on giving the shocks gave a weaker shock , when the researcher came back into the room the defiant participants were obedient once again.
