What is the difference between Operant and Classical Conditioning?
Classical conditioning = associating an involuntary response and a stimulus
Operant conditioning = associating a voluntary behavior and a consequence.
What does CCPDT stand for?
Certification Counsel for Professional Dog Trainers
What does CPDT-KA stand for?
Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed
In a training plan there are three suggestions
*Set…
*Move on when…
*End…
Set measurable goals
Move on when the dog performs 8 out of 10 times
End session with a success
What is the difference between Extinction and Learned Irrelvance?
“extinction” refers to the process of deliberately withholding reinforcement for a specific unwanted behavior, causing it to gradually decrease and eventually disappear, while “learned irrelevance” means a dog learns to disregard a cue or stimulus because it has been presented repeatedly without any meaningful consequence, making it essentially irrelevant to the dog; essentially, the dog learns to ignore a signal that no longer leads to anything important
What is the difference between a voluntary response and a reflexive response?
A “voluntary response” is a behavior that a dog chooses to perform, actively engaging in an action to receive a reward. A voluntary response is learned through training and is considered an active choice
A “reflexive response” is an automatic, involuntary reaction to a stimulus, like flinching or salivating, which the dog has little control over. A reflexive response is a natural, innate reaction to something in the environment.
i.e.
Dog sitting is a voluntary response
Dog salivating is a reflexive response
