What are MDA levels for ACATs?

A
  • The MDA for most ACAT I systems are generally at the OSD level, most often the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD[A&S]).
  • The MDA for ACAT II systems is generally the Component Acquisition Executive (CAE) for each of the services, but can be delegated down to the PEO for some programs.
  • The MDA for ACAT III systems is usually the CAE or the PEO depending on the importance and oversight required for the program.
