Mobs Flashcards
(8 cards)
Why do a joint mob?
More for chronic than acute (dependent on P>R)
Restore a lost ROM
Increase ROM
Reduce capsule tightness
Muscle lengthening (possibly)
Decrease pain
Encourage bone/cartilage changes
Placebo effect? (BPS)
What are SIN factors?
Severity - Intensity of symptoms
Irritability - how quickly does the pain come on/go?
Nature - of injury
Discuss ‘Severity’ of the SIN Factors
Intensity of symptoms (low, moderate, high):
- Constant v intermittent
- Pain scale (at it’s best and worst)
- Night symptoms
- Level of medication
- Level of function
- Ability to work
Discuss Irritability of the SIN Factors
(low, moderate, high)
- Aggs and eases
- How long the symptoms take to come on with an activity (what type of activity)
- How long the symptoms take to go
- How irratated does it become during the activity
Discuss Nature of the SIN Factors
What tissue is involved? BPS?
Pain mechanisms (central/peripheral/chronic)
Stage of healing (acute/chronic)
What guides the mob treatments?
Whether P>R, R>P or P=R
The patient’s SIN factors
Mob treatment duration?
3x30 seconds - 2 minutes
Low SIN factor - longer treatment with more sets
High SIN factor - shorter treatment with less sets
What are the grades for mobs?
(P>R) High SIN factor
Grade 1: Smaller movement performed at the beginning of range
Grade 2: Larger movement into resistance free part of range
(R>P) Low SIN factor
Grade 3: Larger movement performed into resistance part of range to limit of range
Grade 4: Smaller movement performed well into full resistance
