Intention and behaviour are influenced by attitude, subjective norms in the population and perceived levels of behavioural control.
What are the limitations of the theory of planned behaviour?
No habits or routines taken into account
Predicts intention better than outcome
Lack of causality

Everyone moves through discrete phases of change Precontemplation Contemplation Preparation Action Maintenance
Limitations of the Stages of Change model
Not everyone moves through every step
People dont always move in linear fashion
Economics not considered
Outline the social norms theory
Behaviour is influenced by social norms therefore must change these to change peoples behaviour as everyone wants to be normal.
WHat is the aim of Motivational Interviewing?
Tackle ambivalence
What is illness behaviour?
Aimed to seek remedy (ie go to GP)
What is health behaviour?
Behaviour aimed to avoid illness ie excercise
What is sick role behaviour?
Activities aimed at getting well ie taking medication
