Module 4 Flashcards
(21 cards)
A generic term to include the in vitro cultivation of organs, tissues, and cells
Tissue culture
A spherical or 3D shape; specific histological interaction
Organ culture
- A fragment of tissue
- Attachment and migration occurs in the plant of the solid substrate
Primary explant culture
- Adherent monolayer on solid substrate (various cell type)
- Suspension in the culture medium (new cell types)
Cell culture
Compare animals’ cells and microbial cells
Animal cells are more complex while microbial cells are simpler, In growth rate AC are slower compared to MC, in sensitivity to shears AC is more fragile while MC are robust, when it comes to nutritional requirements AC are more complex and not well defines and also expensive while MC are simpler a less expensive.
3 types of Morphology of cells in animal cells
Fibroblast-like, Epithelial-like and Lymphoblast-like
Types of culture
- suspension culture
- Adherent (monolayer)
Bipolar or multipolar
-Elongated shapes
- Grow attached to a substrate
Fibroblast-like cells
