what are the main functions of water in the body?

A
  1. Structural support – helps maintain cell and tissue shape
  2. Solvent – allows biochemical reactions to occur
  3. Hydrolysis – involved in breaking down molecules
  4. Defense – supports immune function and helps flush out infections
  5. Lubrication – part of synovial fluid (joints) and cerebrospinal fluid (brain & spine) to prevent injury
  6. Temperature regulation – absorbs and distributes heat to maintain body temperature
