Q

what is sexual reproduction

A

when 2 organisms/parents of the same species come together to reproduce a new individual- through the diffusion of gametes (sex cells)

Q

list 4 advantages of asexual reproduction

A
  • plants will be able to reproduce similar organisms for the environment and humans
  • the process is usually rapid because it doesn’t involve gametes
  • the organism doesn’t have to try to find a partner to reproduce with - this allows reproduction to occur often and faster.
  • the process of fertilization and embryo development doesn’t take place, hence the process is not long.

Q

list 2 advantages of sexual reproduction

A
  • allows variation in genetic patterns in the organisms for individuality
  • the traits of an individual will become stronger, and will be able to adapt to a new environment and colonize new habits more successfully

Q

list 4 disadvantages of asexual reproduction

A
  • time and energy is needed
  • failure of reproduction
  • genetic diseases can be passed on to offsprings
  • takes longer for the organism mature
