1. Personal, based on individual circumstances
- unique situations means religious beliefs don’t reflect best interest
2. Divorce laws are fair for all as there is no religious input
- beliefs do not interfere with laws and rights
3. Separating the two may prevent abusive relationships
- religion should not condemn divorce if safety is at risk
