What are synovial joints and what is the general structure?
Synovial joints are joints that are all diarthrotic joints which keans that they are freely movable. Synovial joints have a characteristic known as articular alcartilage which covers articular ends of the bone.
What is articular cartilage?
Articular cartilage is cartilage that covers ends of the bones.
What is a synovial membrane? Synovial fluid?
Synovial flud is located between articular cartilage and synovial joints and it prevents friction.
Difference between a miniscus and bursa?
Meniscus is a cartilage that acts a shock absorber for your knee and its located between your shin bine and thigh bone. Whereas bursa fluid filled sac countering friction at a joint.
What are six synovial joints?
Ball and socket, condyloid, plane, hinge, pivot, and saddle joints.
Ball and socket joint
Wide range, shoulder, rotation.
Condyloidjoint joint
Medium, wrist, up and sown and side to side.
Planejoint joint
Minimal, between tarsal bones of the foot, gliding.
Hingejoint joint
Medium, elbow, extending.
Pivotjoint joint
Medium, neck, up and down and side to side.
Saddle joint
Medium, base of thumb, up and down and side to side.
Difference between insertion and origin?
The origin is the fixed attachment, while the insertion moves with contraction.
