  • freedom of worship -> cultural/educational issues, the state can’t impose any particular belief
  • democracy -> the electoral system, unrepresented, vote doesn’t count
  • rule of law -> limited access due to funds, gov limits support
  • equal rights -> still lengthy campaigns to overcome discrimination

  1. minority ethnic groups integrate, influence dominant culture of the country, culture evolves, cultural integration occurs
  2. minority ethnic groups integrate and adopt some aspects of dominant culture but retain their own, live alongside indigenous population
  3. minority groups don’t integrate, retain own culture and reject the dominant culture
