muscle form and function Flashcards
1
Q
what does acetylcholine open after binding to receptors in the muscle membrane. and what happens after this to allow the muscle to contract
-action potential
-calcium
-troponin
-myosin head
A
open sodium channels to allow sodium to enter the muscle. creating an action potential.
this stimulates the release of calcium. which binds with troponin.
-myosin heads attach to the binding sites of the actin filiment and creates a power stroke
2
Q
difference between isotonic and isometric contraction
A
isotonic= produces movement. through walking or moving any part of the body
isometric= produces no movement. used in standing, siting or posture
