A mutation is a change to the base sequence of DNA, causes by errors in DNA replication

- Substitution - 1 base swapped for another
- Deletion - 1 base deleted
- Insertion - 1 extra base added
- Duplication - 1 or more bases repeated
- Inversion - a sequence of bases reversed
