How to Write a Narrative Essay
i. Select an interesting personal experience or happening and form a topic on. For example: My First Day in Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja ii. How I Spent my Last Holiday among others. ii. Create a background that will captivate your readers and make them want to read further. For example: iii. Develop the story further in a chronological order. For instance, you can talk about the journey and how eager you were to get to the school. Your first impression about the university. The remarkable things that happened that day. Talk about the infrastructure, the members of the university community among others, the food you ate and how it tasted, the price in comparison to the one outside the school. What lasting impression did the university leave on you? The conclusion will be determined by the topic. You could tie the end to the beginning by restating the thesis statement. For instance, if you are writing on ‘’It Pays to Work Hard,’’ your conclusion arising from all that you have said in line with the benefits of working hard can be, … as I sat on my sofa reminiscing over all the sacrifices that I have made in life to be where I am today, I suddenly remembered the words of my grandmother who would always say that ‘’it pays to work hard.’’ Generally, the title will determine how the conclusion will be.

My dad was someone no one wanted to upset. The consequences were always very dire. ‘’You had better be! We are leaving this house exactly 6:40am, that’s in ten minutes. You better know the magic you are going to perform,’’ My father said gently but firmly as he shut the door behind him.…(Martha 2025)
