Q

Memorize natural selection CSC paragraph

A

Natural selection is the process where organisms whose inherited traits help them survive will likely reproduce and pass on those same beneficial traits. When an organism reproduces, adaptations can occur that increase their chances of survival. Organisms that are well adapted to their environment are more likely to survive than less adapted ones, so they will reproduce and their offspring will inherit their genes and also have the adaptations. Those offspring are more likely to survive than less adapted organisms, so they will survive longer and reproduce, and pass on their genes and adaptations to their offspring. Soon most of the species will have the adaptations and the ones that are still less adapted will die off. Natural selection occurs in populations when organisms with the best genetic variations for their environment survive and reproduce, giving their genes to their offspring, and leading to the well adapted individual within a species to survive and the ones with less adaptations to die off. Soon most of the species will have the best adaptations and increase the whole species’ chance of survival.
