Probable cause to arrest
Exists when the facts and circumstances known to an officer would warrant a prudent person in believing that a crime has been committed and that the accused had committed it.
Reasonable Suspicion
Specific and articulable facts and circumstances which would lead a reasonable person to believe a crime has been, is being, or is about to be committed
Arrest
An arrest is the taking of a person into custody in a case and in the manner authorized by law
Crime
A crime is an act or omission forbidden by law, punishable upon conviction by death, imprisonment, fine, or other penal discipline
Felony
Punishable by death or imprisonment in the state penitentiary
Gross Misdemeanor
Punishable by fine of not more than $2,000 or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than ONE year or by both fine and imprisonment
Misdemeanor
Punishable by fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment in the city or county jail for not more than 6 months or by, both fine and imprisonment
Robbery
The unlawful taking of personal property from the person of another, or his presence, against his will, by means of force or violence or fear of injury immediate or future
Command Presence
A manner of posture and interaction, which conveys authority, commands attention, shows confidence, and thus increases credibility
De-Escalation
An officer’s actions to slow down, stabilize, and resolve an incident as safely as possibly by reducing danger through the use of verbal persuasion, tactics, resources, and transitioning through force options

A police intrusion on a person’s reasonable and legitimate expectation of privacy
Burglary
Every person who, either by day or night, enters any structure with intent to commit grand larceny or petit larceny, any felony, assault or battery, or to obtain money or property by false pretenses, is guilty of burglary

Every person who, by day or night , forcibly enters an inhabited dwelling without permission if the owner, resident, or lawful occupant, which involves any act of physical force resulting in damage to the structure, whether or not a person is present at the time of entry, is guilty of invasion of the home

Any willful and unlawful use of force or violence of another
