What is a nephron?

A
  • responsible for forming urine which then passes down the ureters to the bladder for storage.

What happens when the bladder is full?

A
  • When full, the sphincter muscle at the base of the bladder opens, allowing urine to flow out of the body via the urethra

How is the renal vein different to the renal artery?

A
  • It has a much reduced urea concentration
  • it has almost the same concentration of glucose and amino acids
  • a restored ion balance
