Q

where are the 4 lobes of the cerebrum located?

A

the frontal lobe is at the front part of each hemisphere
the parietal lobe is behind the frontal lobe at the top
the temporal lobe is at each side of the hemispheres below the parietal lobe
the occipital lobe is at the back of the hemispheres

Q

what does the diencephalon contain and where is it located?

A

contains the thalamus and hypothalamus
it is below the cerebral hemispheres and above the brainstem
the thalamus is in the middle
the hypothalamus is below the thalamus

Q

what does the limbic system contain and where is it located?

A

contains the amygdala and hippocampus
it is within the middle of the temporal lobes and surrounded by the diencephalon
the hippocampus is along the bottom of the lateral ventricles
the amygdala is in front of the hippocampus

Q

what does the brainstem contain and where is it located?

A

it contains the midbrain, pons and medulla
it is located at the base of the brain and connects the cerebrum and cerebellum
the midbrain is at the top of the brainstem below the thalamus
the pons is below the midbrain and above the medulla
the medulla is the lowest part of the brainstem

Q

where is the ventricular system located?

A

inside the brain
the lateral ventricles are within the cerebral hemispheres
the third ventricle is near the thalamus
