Q

Sensory neurons functions and description points?

A

-take information from the receptors TO the central nervous system for processing
-connected to receptors
-cell body pops out the side (so cutesy)

Q

Motor neurons functions and description points?

A

-take messages FROM the central nervous system to muscles in the body (effectors), which then carry out the response
-connect to effectors (muscles or glands)
-cell body in/next to dendrites (fattie)

Q

Inter neurons functions and description points?

A

-the connector neurons which occur in between different types of neurons (usually connect sensory and motor)
-carry info through spinal and brain
-connect sensory and motor
-big dendrites on the top and small cell body below

Q

Do neurons have gaps? Why?

A

-gap between each neuron
-they were all touching, then when the brain sent of a signal all the nerves would “fire” off at once (imagine having one switch for all the lights in your house)

Q

How do neurons communicate?

A

-info travels down neuron (dendrites to axon) as an electric impulse
-neurotransmitters carry the impulse from one to the next
-neuros are chemicals that are released into the space between
-drifts out of synaptic terminal

Q

where are neurotransmitters stored and when are they released?

A

-stored in vesicles
-released into synapse when a nerve impulse reaches the axon terminal

Q

summary of cycle quickly!!

A

-Receptors stimulate sensory neuron to send information to the CNS.

-Interneurons translate message in CNS to motor neuron.

-Motor Neuron sends message from CNS to the effector.

16
Q

dendrites does and looks like

A

-curly hair spiderweb funkybum
-recieve info from other neurons or receptors

17
Q

axon does and looks like

A

-thin long tube (ayo)
-carries electrical nerve impulse away from the cell body towards axon terminals

18
Q

cell body does and looks like

A

-circle thingamabob
-contains nucleas and other controling parts of the cell

19
Q

axon terminal does and looks like

A

-idk what it looks like
-pass on info to the next neuron via synapse
