Neurotransmission Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
How does the majority of information transmission occur in neurotransmission?
A
Nerve cells communicate with each other through chemical neurotransmission in the synapses.
2
Q
When does neurotransmission begin?
A
When action potential has reached the end of the neuron.
3
Q
What are the parts of the nerve ending?
A
Presynaptic axon terminal, Mitochondria, synaptic vesicles, receptors, synaptic cleft and postsynaptic dendrite.
4
Q
Where are neurotransmitters stored?
A
In the presynaptic terminal, the large number of vesicles store the neurotransmitters.
5
Q
What are the different types of Ca^2+ channels?
A
L-type, N-type, P-type and T-type.
