What is neutropenia and how d you treat it

Answer 1

Low neutrophil count ( absolute neutrophil count <1.5 x10*9/litre)
Increases your risk of infection and sepsis, especially in chemotherapy

To treat:
-use recombinant human granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (rhG-CSF)
-filgrastim, lenograstim, pegfligrastin, lipefligrastin
- works by stimulating the neutrophils production, reduces the duration of chemotherapy- induced neutropenia, reduces incidence of febrile neutropenia
