Special Information

A

ED Meds:

  • Can not give under SO if pt has taken ED meds within 24 hrs for Viagra, Levitra or 48 hrs Cialis.
  • If so, and cant contact OLMC start IV & small dose of Morphine w/ prn fluid bolus instead of NTG.
  • Store in dark container, replace open bottle every 30 days.
  • Check BP prior & after admin.
  • Prep Pt; start IV (recommended if borderline low BP, not required prior to admin)
  • Assess effectiveness by reassessing pt.
  • Some brands do not cause bitter taste, not reliable indicator.
  • If hypotension develops, consider fluid challenge.
