Why is NITROFURANTOIN almost exclusively used for UTIs?
- what are the 2 main organisms its active against?
A
Cuz it’s resistant to resistance due to the moa acting on so many different parts of bacteria.
note: low serum levels mean it can only be used for UTIs.
Spectrum: S. aureus, E.coli
