NON-MENDELIAN INHERITANCE Flashcards
(6 cards)
Incomplete Dominance
Both alleles of the heterozygous genotype are transcribed and translated, phenotypically resulting in a combination of the two traits
Codominance
Both dominant and recessive alleles are expressed separately, so you can phenotypically see each one. Both are equally expressed in different cells that are all heterozygous
Multiple Allele Inheritance
When a trait is made up of three or more distinct alleles
Non-Autosomal Inheritance
Sex-linked traits that are more likely in males or females. X-linked traits are more likely to be expressed in males because they only have one X chromosome, and everything on X will be expressed
Epistatic Inheritance
Having one certain gene that overpowers them all and that one will be expressed
Polygenic Inheritance
One trait is governed by multiple alleles, proteins produced by several genes make up this one trait
