Stripping the body….
Stripping of the body must take place immediately before the Post Mortem examination commences. Under direction of the O/C investigation.

- Before it is stripped
- After the body is stripped
- Close up of wounds, marks, internal injuries, including measuring scale

- Recording exhibits
- Labelling exhibits

At a minimum, the sudden death file must contain the following (4 points)
- POL47
- Verification of Death
- Formal ID
- Statements from, person last saw, person found, person who gives history

- Position of limbs
- Direction if any blood trials

- Exhibits that are correctly packaged and labelled
- An exhibit schedule
- Notebooks
- Statement
What to do if there are cultural issues?
Inform cultural liaison officer or iwi liaison officer
Formal ID must knows
- OC to arrange formal ID
- ID will only take place is OC investigation says so
- Important that person carrying out ID is fully informed of what’s required and what they will see

- Urine
- Ocular fluid
- Bile
- Liver
- Lungs
- Organs
- Nasal cavities
