BMI classifications - WHO

A

healthy weight = 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m2

Overweight = 25 to 29.9 kg/m2

Obesity I = 30 to 34.9 kg/m2

Obesity II = 25 - 39.9 kg/m2

Obesity III = 40+

Men - waist circumference <94cm is low, 94-102cm is high and 102cm+ is very high

Women - waist circumference <80cm is low, 80-88cm is high, 88cm+ is very high

NICE Guidelines

A

150 mins moderate inensity activity per week

Preventing obesity = 45-60 mins moderate intensity exercise a day
Avoid regaining weight = 60-90 mins a day to avoid regaining weight

at least 6 month programme

F - be active on most days of the week (at least 3-4)
I - moderate
T - 30-60 mins per day
T - rhythmic exercises/aerobic using large muscle groups

Orlistat / liraglutide / semaglutide / tirzepatide

Orlistat - block absorption of some dietary fat
Liraglutide - mimics effects of natural hormone that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar
