OKAV Procedures (incl. emergencies) Flashcards
(40 cards)
Go around
- Full power, promptly but smoothly
- Add right rudder as needed
- Anticipate a sudden, excessive nose pitch-up moment and the need for forward yoke pressure - Adjust pitch attitude to level flight or a slight climb but keep airspeed increasing
- Do not pitch for too much climb yet if airspeed is insufficient! - Flaps - Immediately retract to 20°
- Climb Speed - 60 KIAS
- Flaps - 10° (as obstacle is cleared)
- Flaps - UP (after a safe altitude & 65 KIAS)
- Communicate as necessary
Spin recovery
- Power - idle
- Ailerons - neutral
- Rudder - apply fully in the opposite direction of the spin and hold until rotation stops
- Elevator - push the yoke forward enough to break the stall
- Once rotation stops, neutralize the rudder and make a smooth recovery from the resulting dive with yoke back pressure
Emergency landing
- Airspeed - 68 KIAS (VG)
- Best field - It could be directly under you
- Complete the appropriate checklists (2)
- Engine Failure During Flight (RESTART PROCEDURES), then
- Forced Landings EMERGENCY LANDING WITHOUT POWER
- Declare emergency
- “MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY” on current frequency or 121.5MHz
- Squawk 7700
- ELT | Execute Landing | Evacuate Airplane
Unusual Attitudes
Nose High
- Power smoothly to full
- Lower the nose
- Roll wings level
- Return to cruise flight
MRT….Push….Roll
Unusual Attitudes
Nose Low
- Power smoothly to idle
- Roll wings level
- Raise the nose
- Return to cruise flight
Idle….Roll….Pull
